Amalia Liakou is an Art Theorist and Photographer. Holder of a Bachelor in Philosophy, Pedagogic and Psychology, and a Master’s degree in Philosophy- philosophy of Art in Greece, she realised her PhD thesis in Aesthetics, Sciences and Technologies of Art with specialization Visual Arts and Photography at the university Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint Denis. Doctoral fellowship of the Institute of Aesthetics Miheli and Erasmus fellowship for master studies of Aesthetics at the university Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Her thesis concerns the Aesthetics of surrealist imaginary and the Greek photography. Among the members of the committee of presentation (2013) was the Greek artiste Lizzie Calligas. She participated in conferences in Paris, Belgium and Greece and her publications for the theory of photography are included in French books. She participated in group exhibitions of photography in Paris and Salvador de Bahia and she realised her first personal exhibition of photography “Epiphanies” in Athens, 2015 -preface of the catalogue by the author Nanos Valaoritis. Her researches concern the questions of photography, visual arts, modern and contemporary art, surrealism, art and psychoanalysis, art and politics, “primitive” art.
